Definition

deformity in both frontal and lateral plane in spine . kyphosis is deviation in lateral plane . type 1. labile kyphosis : e.g. postural , due to muscle weakness (early stage polio) , compensatory in cdh . 2. fixed kyphosis : angular (knuckle or gibbus) : due to collapse of one or two vertebrae e.g. tuberculosis spine , spinal fracture , congenital collapse . gradual (rounded kyphosis) : due to partial collapse of more than two vertebrae e.g. ; senile kyphosis , osteomalacia , adolescent kyphosis and ankylosing spondylitis . scoliosis deviation of spine in frontal plane . Multiple causes known but

idiopathic types common in young females.
