- Try building your search one term at a time, and be as specific as you can! Search term example: "chronic cough".
- Do not enter multiple findings such as "anemia, chronic cough, weight loss, vomiting" all at the same time.
- After selecting your term from the search results a list of possible diagnoses will be generated. If the list is too long, you will be able to narrow it down by entering additional terms.
- Do not enter values such as "heart rhythm 110" or "sodium 125", instead use "tachycardia" or "hyponatremia".

neural tube defect includes anencephaly and skeletal defect including spina bifida and meningomyelocele;-----------------------------Defects of neural tube closure constitute some of the most common congenital malformations affecting the nervous system especially with folic acid deficiency states ans certain drugs; Spina bifida with associated meningomyelocele or meningocele is commonly found in the lumbosacral region; Depending on the extent and severity of the involvement of the spinal cord and peripheral nerves, lower extremity weakness, bowel and bladder dysfunction, and hip dislocation may be present; Early surgical closure of meningoceles and meningomyeloceles is usually indicated; Additional treatment is necessary to manage chronic abnormalities of the urinary tract, orthopedic abnormalities such as kyphosis and scoliosis, and paresis of the lower extremities; Hydrocephalus associated with meningomyelocele usually requires ventriculoperitoneal shunting-------------[Adapted Current DXRX Peds 2004]---------
