Definition

The term CONGENITALLY HANDICAPPED was also used to capture this concept from 1973-1996, and CONGENITALLY DISABLED was used from 1997-2000. In 2000, CONGENITAL DISORDERS replaced the discontinued and deleted term CONGENITALLY DISABLED. CONGENITALLY DISABLED and CONGENITALLY HANDICAPPED were stripped from all records and replaced with CONGENITAL DISORDERS.
